BARC, NPCIL and NIAS (National Institute of Advanced Studies) Teams visited NTPC Talcher Thermal and Talcher Kaniha for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs ) Development from 5-7 th May, 2022.

Shri A. K. Nayak, Head of Reactor Technology (BARC), Shri Purunendra Verma, Scientific Officer (BARC) Shri K Giridhar, Chief Engineer- Civil (NPCIL) and Shri Rudrodip Majumdar, Assistant Professor (NIAS) were part of the respective Teams.

Shri A. P. Samal, GM (Engineering), SRHQ (Hyderabad) and P. K. Dwivedi, DGM(PE-Mech) were also present.

During the visit to Talcher Thermal team meet Senior Officials at Talcher Thermal and Shri Nayak gave a presentation on Role of SMRs in De-carbonization of Power Sector & unreasoned fear of radiation through Microsoft Teams which was attended by Engineering and CQA online. Team also met Shri K S Rao, ED (Talcher Kaniha) and discussed further roadmap for SMRs development.
